I can't wait to see these amazing Boswellia trees for real. In the southern part of Oman they are scraped to release the sap, then it hardens into resin called "tears" and is burned over hot coals as incense, among other things.
Frankincense is unique to Oman and parts of Yemen. In it's day, Frankincense was very valuable for trading and it is made famous as one of the gifts the Wise Men brought to Jesus.
You often smell it in the malls burning outside Omani stores in 2 foot high incense burners!

One of our most treasured possessions from Oman is a piece of Frankincense from the Sultan! One of our friends in Oman had the opportunity to meet with the Sultan. He was given a pouch of the highest quality Frankincense from the Sultan's private trees. It was an honor for him to be given some of this and a double blessing to receive some of it.
