40 things I love about Oman #5 Fantastic Forts
With over 500 forts along the coast of Oman, it is hard to know which ones to highlight. Pictured here is the Nakhal Fort in the Batinah region of Oman (North East of Muscat where we lived). The above pictures are courtesy of Wikipedia. Nearer Muscat, there are many forts camouflaged against the rocks. Used for centuries as look out points from invading forces, the Portuguese built some of them when they ruled the region in the 1500's.
Kiddo No.3 is looking forward to exploring some of these when we return-looks like we will have plenty of home school field trip options!
