Wadis are dry river beds that fill with water during the rains. Some wadis never dry up while others only fill if it rains. Muscat gets very little rain each year-maybe 3 or 4 times a year it will rain. The rain is so infrequent that many houses and shopping centers are built in wadis!
In fact during a rare hurricane all the wadis in Muscat overflowed with rain and shopping centers were mostly under water-but more of this in another blog..
This is Wadi Shaab. We are looking forward to visiting some wadis on our next return. The emerald green water is almost too good to be true!
