Big Changes..

It's really real!
After 8 years of homeschooling in 4 countries, my days of a full-time homeschool Mamma are coming to an end. My eldest kiddo has been accepted into an online high school program with a couple of subjects still to be done at home. I am excited for my eldest who had to take her SAT exam a year early in order to apply for this program. After 2 years she will have earned double high school credits toward whatever college she chooses to attend. She did really well in her online high school classes last year and so now she gets to advance some more. It was an emotional moment when I read out her acceptance letter, knowing the homeschool journey was changing.
The younger kiddos have been accepted into an international school. Today was orientation day and I keep pinching myself to know that they have been accepted into this school. This past year I have been sensing that the time was right for the kiddos to be challenged more academically and to widen their group of friends. Through an amazing set of circumstances and people, this dream for the kiddos has become a reality!
It has been a great homeschool journey. I have so many memories of reading and spending time with my kiddos but the days of them sitting on my lap are over! I will never regret the time spent with them but everyone is ready for a new journey.
Today was a fantastic experience. We got to meet the kiddos' teachers and everyone was so friendly and encouraging. One kiddo, we found out has a great ear for music, and it was so much fun to watch him try out for instrument playing for the first time. Its a whole new world with Ipads being provided as part of their learning. The other kiddo had a informational lesson on Ipad learning and it was amazing to see how many apps are out there to assist with learning. She gets to enjoy a new way of interactive learning and came home with her Ipad.
For years, the kiddos have wanted lockers even though they were homeschooled-today they got them! It was interesting to watch everyone find their lockers and groan or cheer depending on whether they were assigned a top or bottom locker!
Finally, picking out uniforms was a new experience..no more schooling in pajamas!
So onto the new season we go with great excitement..
