Celebrating in Oman!

It's 42 years since the current Sultan came to power. He has brought amazing changes to this country. Today there are schools for all, airport, cars, modern stores, a place where foreigners like me are welcomed!
While many of the cities are now modern, there is so much of the land which is untouched. I am sure it will not stay like this forever as hotels and tourism reclaim beaches and roads are burrowed through mountains. But for now we get the best of both worlds. A few weeks ago we got a day off and with some friends headed out to visit one of the famous mountains here-Jebel Akhdar (green mountain). Its not green like my bonnie homeland but the views as we drove UP were quite amazing. DOWN the mountain photos on the next post. Enjoy!
